This is a 8-hour, 1-day Avalanche Rescue certified training that will get you and your backcountry partners proficitent with companion avalanche rescue that saves lives. The course is taught to American Avalanche Association (A3) standards.
Avalanche Rescue topics include:
Learn: Importance of knowing when you are entering into avalanche terrain, group plan communication, trailhead checks, travel protocol, priorities & actions to take if involved in an avalanche, effective applications of search techniques, methods and strategies used in locating burials, medical issues associated with avalanches, how to request EMS rescources and what to expect with larger ICS responses, and more.
Come prepared to be outdoors. Bring your personal equipment that you typically carry with you in the mountains including: beacon, shovel probe. A gear list will be provided. The course meets on all day Saturday. Expect 3 hours indoors and 5 hours outdoors.
Course will run from 8-6 pm Saturday with a break for lunch. Location will depend on condtions.
