During this seminar, attorneys Chris Brannon and Paul Black will provide an overview of the changes to our healthcare system by the Affordable Care Act. Chris and Paul will first focus upon the ACA's strengthening of Medicare-funded preventative services, wellness visits, the end of the prescription drug "doughnut hole" and Medicare's improved long-term fiscal solvency. They will then address the ACA's impact upon Medicaid in Georgia, and highlight how many special needs individuals may benefit from insurance policies available on the healthcare exchange instead of Medicaid. Finally, Chris and Paul will present several case studies of different individuals to help attendees synthesize the ACA changes and to generate interaction and discussion among attendees. They will comprehensively cover the costs of long-term care and programs that may be available to supplement the individual/patient’s income and assets. Specific topics will include; in-home caregivers, assisted living facilities, skilled nursing facilities, Medicare, nursing home Medicaid, Medicaid waiver programs, and VA benefits.
