Cindi Lynch, Stenograph’s Training Program Manager is scheduled to be the instructor at all of the CATalyst 2017 Workshops. Cindi has trained thousands of court reporters, captioners, CART providers, scopists, teachers and students all over the English-speaking world on a variety of CAT and other software for machine shorthand professionals for more than 27 years.  Graduate of the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, she holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts.  She manages Stenograph's Certified Independent Training Agent Program, is the author of the eight CATalyst Self-Study Guides and creator of the Exceptional Extras files and documents included with CATalyst. She wrote and programmed the Integrated Video Training video lessons and the Essential Skills course practice files included with CATalyst. She is also the creator of the “Ask Cindi” video series and “Cindi’s Corner” tips feature on Stenograph’s Facebook page. Cindi is a primary online liaison for Stenograph on Facebook and at a variety of social media sites for court reporting professionals and students.  She is a two-time recipient of Stenograph’s President Award for dedication and commitment to customer service and Stenograph.

Course 1:  What’s New in Version 18 , Plus…
Get to know the new features and enhancements included in Version 18; such as enhancements to Cloud Backup, new realtime commands and capabilities; new global and field options; autorecover for dictionaries, new Dictionary Builder capabilities,  the new All Options dialog and more. Plus, learn about some of the most requested CATalyst “tweaks” -- small adjustments that can increase your efficiency , your comfort and your confidence when working with the software.

Course 2: Edit Tips and Tricks
Most reporters and scopists use only a fraction of the features and options
available in CATalyst Edit that can make editing faster, easier and more accurate.
In this class, you’ll learn how to recognize which features can be used for specific editing challenges and make a huge difference in terms of your editing ease and efficiency.

Course 3:  Realtime Editing for Realtime Quality

Many CATalyst users don’t realize how fantastic their realtime output can be when they take advantage of features that enable them to improve realtime translation accuracy on-the-fly.  In this class, we’ll review five features for defining on the fly: Live Suggestions, Power Defines, Scan Defines, EZ Speaker Defines and Text E-Defines. We’ll also go over the number one tool to edit not-quite-right translation results during realtime: the AccelerWriter a.k.a. the realtime macro. You’ll learn how to use the AccelerWriters provided with CATalyst as well as how to create your own AccelerWriters to see higher quality realtime output and greatly reduce the amount of time needed to edit the job.

Course 4:  Additional Translate Tips and Tricks
On-the-fly editing is one way to improve realtime output: however there are a number of features and methods you can use to improve your translation results in regular or realtime translation. In this class we’ll focus on efficient prep; defines that can help you write shorter; tweaks to parentheticals and autoincludes, and we’ll review fingerspelling techniques!
