JESSICA PUTNAM-PHILLIPS
February 10 - 12, 2017

Using decals, china paint and luster Jessica will show how to create elegant, complex and compelling surfaces on composite hand-built and altered thrown forms. Using templates and press-molding techniques participants will learn how to create interesting plate & platter shapes. Jessica will show how to create feet by throwing and hand building. Jessica will show how to make bisque sprig molds and stamps from found or sculpted objects, then participants will make their own to take with them Jessica will demonstrate her “decal collage” technique along with successful ways to layer commercial decals with laser decals. Jessica will share how to design, format, print, and choose the right printer and decal paper. Participants are encouraged to bring their own images as they will have the opportunity to make and print out their own laser decals at the workshop.  Jessica will demonstrate how to use china paints along with various lusters and the different effects when used over glossy, satin or matte glazes. Finally, she will touch briefly on the use of cold finishes, crystal and gem additions and embellishments.
