AIA CLEVELAND HARD HAT TOUR SERIES:

Take a tour and see Kent State University’s College of Architecture and Environmental Design take shape. Sited strategically at the hinge between campus and downtown, this 116,000 square-foot building will be an innovative center for design disciplines and a beacon to the community signaling the creative, artistic and research-based programs of the college. Get a behind-the-scenes look at distinctive building materials and systems, and explore sustainable features including a geothermal heat pump and green roof.
Learning Objectives for this tour are:
1) Understanding the importance of connecting the KSU Campus with the City of Kent's Downtown district.
2) Solutions for achieving LEED Platinum: Geothermal Energy, Material Selections, Green Roof, Rainwater Harvesting, Energy Recovery System, Daylight Harvesting, LED Lighting.
3) Designing open and flexible spaces that stimulate creativity and encourage collaboration.
4) Observe unique MEP systems, radiant floor, curtainwall, concrete cantilevers, acoustical systems, technology.

Hard Hats and Safety Glasses are required so please bring your own. If you are unable to bring your own, there will be a very limited number available on site for use.
A happy hour will follow the hard hat tour immediately upon conclusion. Venue for the happy hour is still to be determined. Light appetizers will be provided for those in attendance.
