Modernizing GSA's First LEED Platinum Net Zero Energy Courthouse
Course Description:
This session will provide an overview of net zero energy building design definitions and considerations for modernization or adaptive reuse of existing structures for high energy performance and indoor environmental quality. The session will include a discussion of the integration of design-build procurement, building analysis, commissioning, and post-occupancy monitoring for projects seeking net zero energy certification.
Roger Chang, PE, LEED Fellow, will present design insights from DLR Group/Westlake Reed Leskosky's renovation of the 1918 Wayne N. Aspinall Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse in Grand Junction, CO. This project recently won the architecture Honor Award, the highest award granted, at the 2018 AIA Cleveland Design Awards. It also won an AIA COTE Top Ten Award in 2014.
