Classical Architecture Design Fundamentals for Health, Safety & Welfare
Course Description:
We will introduce the orders and elements of classical architecture and show how they are used in solving real world design problems.
Learning Objectives:

Attendees will identify examples of architecture that employ the orders and elements, and analyze in a question/answer/discussion segment of the class.

Attendees will address how individual classical design elements, large compositions that employ classical design, and the proportions of classical architecture that are capable of conveying meaning, improving health, reducing stress, and generally contributing to overall well being.

Attendees will discuss Quinlan Terry's "Seven Misconceptions about Classical Architecture" to form a convenient framework for a second interactive question and answer segment that addressees pastiche, functionalism, new building types, materials, cost, tradesmen, and politics.

Attendees will discuss how each of these effects the health and well-being of society.
