Please join AIA Cleveland for the launch of a new series: Coffee with the Fellows. This series seeks to bridge the gap between emerging professionals and the Fellows by bringing together one EP and one Fellow for a conversation focused on design, projects or initiatives. The pair will take turns interviewing each other and engage in discourse on the chosen topic.

This series of two-person panel talks seeks to bridge the gap between emerging professionals and the AIA Fellows by bringing together one Emerging Professional and one AIA Fellow for a conversation focused on design, projects or initiatives. The pair will take turns interviewing each other and engage in discourse on the chosen topic. Volume III will focus on experiencing the built environment through the lens of sketching and painting, and how architecture can be perceived within it's larger social, economic, and environtmental context.

Learning Objectives:

View architecture and design through the lens of art, specifically through sketching and painting. Understand the contextual subtlies of architecture in the way an artist would.

Consider how a building’s “sustainability” can be understood in contexts beyond its site. See how a building can respond to its physical environment and to the resilience of its inhabitants and its city.

Explore ways in which a city or town can remain vibrant through time. By seeing the built environment through sketching and painting, we learn from our seminal Ohio towns how we might plan for the future.

Our two speakers will share some key tips and tricks for emerging professionals to identify their own professional development paths.
