Find Your Tribe - Love Them Hard: Does Culture Really Drive Business Success?
Summary
The business model you choose and the culture you create makes all the difference in your success. Cathie shares her passion for building an authentic and relevant tribe, and how the culture of an organization determines its ultimate success or failure. She will provide meaningful examples from her 43 year journey with Community First to give evidence to believe. This will be an interactive session with audience participation.
Biography
Cathie is President/CEO/Treasurer of Community First Credit Union, a $3.4 billion financial cooperative headquartered in the Fox Cities. She joined the credit union as a teller in 1976 and during her 27 years as CEO has grown the organization to 26 full service and 10 non-traditional branches, located throughout Northeastern WI serving more than 138,000 member owners with a team of 567. The credit union also operates an independent personal lines insurance agency through its wholly owned subsidiary the Community First Insurance Center.
Ms Tierney serves on the board of the National Association of State Chartered Credit Unions, as a Trustee of the Wisconsin Credit Union League’s Unity Fund, and Chairman of the Wisconsin Credit Union Foundation. In addition, she currently serves as Chairman of PSCU, a payments technology company headquartered in Florida, and on the board of SECURA Insurance. Her current community involvement includes board service for Habitat for Humanity Fox Cities, the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region, Fox Cities Building for the Arts, the Fox Valley Humane Association, Riverview Gardens, and New North.
Cathie recently completed her term on the Federal Reserve Board’s Community Depository Financial Institutions Council for the Chicago Fed district. She has served on the Governor’s Council for Financial Literacy, and is a passionate supporter of life-long learning and an advocate for making financial education available to everyone! She received the Governor’s Financial Literacy Legacy Award from Gov. Scott Walker in 2016. The Legacy Award is given to an organization, business or individual whose purpose and heritage is ingrained in sustained financial literacy and capability. Over the course of her 43 years at Community First, Cathie has been honored with many other awards including the CU Hero of the Year (CUNA), Athena Award, Credit Union Professional of the Year (WCUL), Woman Manager of the Year, Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow Award, Walter Rugland Community Service Award and the Post Crescent CEO of the Year. Cathie was also inducted into the Fox Cities Chamber Hall of Fame, and the Credit Union Executives Hall of Fame. She is a Fox Cities native, an alumna of Lawrence University and a Certified Credit Union Executive.Professional Development Session 1

Biography
Cliff has over 28 years of investment industry experience and serves the Firm as investment consultant and partner. In this role he assists plan sponsors and their committees with plan design, investment manager searches, investment performance monitoring, and other ERISA compliance issues. Previously he was a Vice President at a national mutual fund company where he provided consulting services to professionals in the financial services industry serving both corporations and individual investors. Advice included 401(k) plan design, development of investment policy statements, and creation of model portfolios using modern portfolio theory. Cliff holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. He obtained a B.A. in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from Illinois Wesleyan University.

Biography
Ed leads the Firm’s research team. His team performs ongoing capital markets and investment manager reviews for institutional clients, as well as asset allocation analysis and modern portfolio theory-based asset allocation optimizations. Ed’s team holds extensive contacts in the investment management and consulting industry and performs regular onsite due diligence meetings to remain at the forefront of industry trends. Ed graduated from Marquette University with a Masters of Business Administration specializing in finance and attended Gustavus Adolphus College where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree (graduated cum laude). Ed holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
