LISC Roundtable Series Presents:

The Historical Arc of Affordable Housing

$25 Members/ $35 Non-Members

Join us for the second installment of the 2018 LISC Roundtable Series on Wednesday, February 21. SDHF Executive Director Stephen Russell and LISC San Diego Lending Program Officer Kwofi Reed will walk you through how affordable housing all began and how its history affects us—and our current efforts at increasing affordable housing—today.

Many professionals new to affordable housing are thrown into the industry, forced to learn and adhere to many rules and regulations that may not have obvious justifications. Understanding the historical context of affordable housing, from early 20th century tenement slums to 60’s civil rights efforts, can shed light on why affordable housing works the way it does today. Novices and experienced practitioners alike will have the chance to reexamine their perspectives, share their own experiences on the industry, and walk away with a better sense of the arc of history of affordable housing.
