"Moles and Defectors I Have Known"

& Cold War Museum Tour

The AFA Gabriel Chapter encourages your participation at a Cold War Museum presentation for noted DIA and FBI Counterintelligence Officer Mr. Cal Carnes.  The Cold War Museum, in cooperation with the Old Bust Head Brewing Company, invite you to attend this presentation.  His presentation will discuss moles/traitors John Walker (Navy), Aldrich Ames (CIA), Robert Hanssen (FBI), and Jay Pollard (Navy) to offer an insight into their activities and motivation.  As Mr. Carnes personally know two of these moles, Hanssen and Pollard, he will add his impressions on their personalities and characteristcs.  He will also talk about defectors and other Soviet intellignece officers he knew and met, such as debriefing Oleg Gordievskiy, the acting KGB rezident in London, as well as various GRU officers.  He considered Nicholas Artomonov, aka Nick Shadrin, Soviet Navy Officre defector, a friend.

Mr. Carnes has had a 40-year career in the US Intelligence Community.  Most of it was as a Counterintellience Officer with DIA, FBI, NCIS, and the U.S. Army.  He also served in the Naval Reserve Intelligence, retiring as a Commander.  Following his government service, he has worked as a contractor for several government agencies.

We request members SIGN UP for tickets IN ADVANCE, so that the museum can plan for the number of attendees with Old Bust Head. 

The timeline is:

* 1230-1300 - Participants arrive; they may get their beer or other drink at this time

* 1300-1310 - Jason Hall, Executive Director of the Cold War Museum, introduces the Museum and Mr. Carnes

* 1310 -1415 - Cal presents on Moles and Defectors I Have Known

* 1415-1500 - Q&A opportunity for the audience

* 1500-1530 - Audience members may claim their beer or other drink at this time

* 1530-1630 - The Museum (next door) will be open for event participants, with staff providing a tour for those interested. 

For the kids, the appropriate drinks will be available.

The cost is $25 for ticketrs purchased online, including the presentation; a $7 coupon toward a craft beer draft, Kombucha, or other drink; a $10 contribution to the Cold War Museum; and special access to the Museum (next door) for the events participants following the presentation.
