Lunch Meeting
November 8, 2017

Please join us for the November 8th  Gabriel Chapter Lunch Meeting at McCormick & Schmick's Seafood & Steaks in McLean, VA.   Our two guest speakers will be Lt Col Pedro Burton-Taylor and Major Joseph Sanchez from the Air Force Office of the Surgeon General.  These speakers will discuss the TRICARE changes taking effect 1 Jan 18, and what to expect from the Military Health System (MHS) reforms being implemented in the coming year.  In addition, we've asked for updates on potential businesss opportunites related to MHS reforms - digitization of health records, IT infrastructure improvements, and the areas in which the Air Force and the other Services may be making investments.  Whether you're a client in the Military healthcare system or interested in doing business in the Defense health enterprise, you will not want to miss this presentation!!

Lt Col Taylor is the Chief Program Branch and Deputy Medical Support Division Chief for the Air Force Medical Support Agency, Office of the Air Force Medical Support Agency (AFMSA), Falls Church, VA.  He is responsible for shaping TRICARE policy and forming Air Force position on health benefits legislation.  Additionally, he provides oversight and writes AFMS policy for the Secretariel Designee program, patient travel, and healthcare eligibility.

Major Sanchez is the Senior Health Benefits Program Manager for AFMSA.  He is responsible for developing and interpreting corporate health benefits policy to support 75 military treatment facilities.  Additionally, he advises senior leaders on issues pertaining to Congressional Statues, health plan eligibility, and enrollment practices.  Finally, he represents the Air Force on multiple headquarters working groups at the Defense Health Agency and supports $64B in health contracts.

Dress Code: Business, or uniform of the day for active duty

The menu includes a Caesar Salad, and a choice of Chicken Marsala, Simply Grilled Salmon, or Shrimp Scampi, and a dessert of Creme Brulee.

Price is $45 for Members Still Working, and $30 for Retired Members (no longer working). There is no charge for active duty; government employees; or Chapter Platinum, Gold, or Silver Sponsors. NOTE: we have implemented new prices in order to continue to enjoy high quality meals, while managing increased costs.

An important note about the pricing: The Gabriel Chapter is committed to bringing the best speakers who will advocate for a dominant Air Force for our membership at our monthly luncheons and for a reasonable price.  The proceeds from these luncheons support the Chapter's activities, including STEM and Aerospace Education.  Even though we found a great restaurant with McCormick & Schmick's, we are imprementing new prices in order to enjoy high quality meals, while managing costs.  It will be $45 (vice $37) for Members Still Working, and $30 (vice $27) for Retired Members (no longer working).  There is still no charge for active duty, government employees, and our sponsors to attend.  If the active duty and government employee wishes to pay, just sign up in the Still Working category.  We continue to explore options to ensure we continue to bring interesting speakers to the Gabriel Chapter in forums that are affordable and that advance the mission of the AFA.
