To qualify as a Demonstration or Recognized Site for the Outdoor Classroom Project, each center must have a teacher who has completed the Outdoor Classroom Project Specialist Level I Training.

in Marin County California
Spring 2018
A series of three full-day Saturday workshops
March 10th ~ April 14th ~ May 19th, 2018

We are pleased to announce the Spring 2018 Outdoor Classroom Project Specialist Level I Training Series in Marin County California.  This inspiring and educational training series will provide early childhood professionals a unique opportunity to acquire enhanced skills for cultivating and sustaining the Outdoor Classroom at their centers. The Specialist Level I Training consists of three full day workshops on Saturdays at the Marin County Office of Education in San Rafael. As part of the training experience, participants will have the opportunity to explore the grounds and see the application of Outdoor Classroom philosophy in the play yard design of this Outdoor Classroom Project® Demonstation Site Centers Santa Margarita Children's Center and Gan Israel Preschool.

Initiated in 2003 by the Child Educational Center, Caltech/JPL Community in Southern California with a grant from First 5 L.A., the Outdoor Classroom Project has worked with hundreds of centers and thousands of teachers. Currently there are over sixty Outdoor Classroom Project Demonstration and Recognized centers in Southern California and four Demonstration Sites in Northern California.  There are Outdoor Classroom Project Demonstration Site Centers in 11 counties in California: Alameda, Lake, Los Angeles, Marin, Orange, Riverside, Santa Barbara, Santa Clara, San Diego, San Luis Obispo, and Ventura. For more information, please visit our website outdoorclassroomproject.org.

Fees
The registration fee is $395 and includes three full-day training sessions with continental breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack, binder, handouts, and Certificate of Completion.
There is a 10% discount for staff from Outdoor Classroom Project Demonstration or Recognized Sites. The discounted fee is $355.00.  If you have questions, please email Lynn Farwell at Lynn.Farwell@ceconline.org

There is a $25 fee to make-up each missed workshop from a previous Specialist Level I Training Series. We will be able to offer make-up workshops only if space allows.

Cancellation Policy:  You can obtain a partial refund of your fee minus a $35 administrative charge as late as Wednesday, February 28, 2018.  Beginning March 1st, any fee paid is non-refundable. Any cancellations must be in writing via email to outdoorclassroomproject@ceconline.org.

Enrollment is extremely limited for this training series. Priority enrollment will be given to Marin County Office of Education, HEAL - Marin Child Care Council, Marin Chapter 6 CAEYC, Marin Head Start, and Outdoor Classroom Project Demonstration Site Centers. We currently have only 18 spaces available. When we reach capacity, enrollment will be closed and we will place applicants on a wait list and register as space allows. Please note, we DO expect to reach capacity and close registration early. Sign-up soon if you would like to attend.

Registration and attendance at, or participation in, OCP conferences, workshops, and other activities constitutes an agreement for the CEC and the OCP, or anyone authorized by the CEC/OCP, to record and use, as CEC/OCP may desire in its sole and absolute discretion, all recording and reproductions or depictions of such exhibitor’s or attendee’s name, likeness, voice, persona, words, actions, and/or biography, which CEC/OCP may make, including without limitation, the right for CEC/OCP, or anyone authorized by CEC/OCP, to use such recordings, reproductions, or depictions in or in connection with any legitimate purposes, including for advertising, publicity, trade, and editorial purposes, at any time in the future in all media now known or hereafter developed, throughout the world.


Criteria
* Limited Enrollment - Registration will be closed when we reach capacity, first come - first
   served.   Additional participants will be able to enroll upon request and as space permits.
* Participants are strongly encouraged to attend all 3 Saturday trainings.
* Certificates of Completion will be granted only to those who attend all 18 hours of
   training and complete homework assignments.
* To qualify as a Demonstration or Recognized Site for the Outdoor Classroom Project,
    each center must have a teacher who has completed the Outdoor Classroom Project
    Specialist I Training.

Required Texts & Pre-Training Assignments
The Outdoor Classroom Program Development and Staff Training Guide can only be purchased from our website outdoorclassroomproject.org.  The Guide is required reading PRIOR to the start of the training.  "Last Child in the Woods" and "Theories of Childhood" can be ordered from Amazon or your local bookstore.
