Betsy Greene is offering First Steps in MusicTM from July 17-21, 2017, to be held on the campus of Lyndon State College. CS is available as a workshop only or for 3 graduate credits in collaboration with Castleton University. This course is accredited by FAME (Feierabend Association for Music).

First Steps in MusicTM was created by leading music educator Dr. John Feierabend of the Hartt School of Music. Through active participation in both music and movement activities, participants will learn how to further their young students' musical growth with joy, imagination, and wonder while preparing them for a lifelong of music learning. This course will include current research findings and the implications of that research on the development of an early childhood music and movement curriculum, collecting materials, designing teaching strategies, lesson plans, and yearly curriculum, as well as developing and promoting an early childhood program. Materials and activities will be presented for children from birth to age seven.
Course instructor is Betsy Greene, a Feierabend Association for Music Education (FAME) endorsed Teacher Trainer and highly respected music educator in the Burlington Vermont Schools. This course is fully endorsed by FAME. All participants will receive a First Steps in Music Certificate of Completion from FAME.

Fees: Earn an early registration reward if you register on or before June 1, 2017. Registration requires a deposit of $100 OR a school PO number. Deduct deposit amount from full fee below.

Three credits are offered through Castleton University under a professional development contract with Music-COMP. All fees are paid to Music-COMP.
Accommodations:
Housing and meals are available at the facilities of Lyndon State College for an additional $229. Housing includes Sunday night through Thursday night. Meals begin with breakfast on Monday through lunch on Friday. There is no charge for parking. The Northeast Kingdom has multiple activities nearby.
