Kiwanis Summer Roadtrip
to Barkerville Brewing Co.
In follow-up to our successful roadtrip this spring, Kiwanis Prince George has planned another fun trip. This time we're celebrating summer and visiting Quesnel to sample craft beer from its small-town brewer Barkerville Brewing Co.
Our hosts will be Brewmaster Troy Rudolph, General Manager Justine Pelletier and Sales Manager Nolan Foster who opened their doors this past February. The brewery like the region, reflects the rich local history, rural charm and warm Cariboo hospitality. And like the nearby pioneering town it's named after, Barkerville Brewing has seen an early boom by it's rave reviews and winning a silver medal at it's first Canadian Brewing Awards. The brewery tasting room has been sampling Sternwheeler Scotch Ale, 52 Foot Stout, Wandering Camel IPA, Prospector's Peril Pale Ale and of course it's award winning 18 Karat Ale. The brewery is in the heart of the city, located in transformed building that has witnessed it all as a gas station, a night club, a pool hall and a home for grizzly tree planters.
No need to drive as the event includes travel aboard a chartered coach bus so we can all socialize, play games and safely enjoy the trip there and back. Prior to our time at the brewery, we'll enjoy brunch at local culinary institution the Granville Coffee Restaurant. The event timing:
- 8:30-8:45am - Meet at Starbucks Pine Centre Mall
- 9:00am sharp - Leave Prince George
- 10:30am - Patio brunch at Granville Coffee Restaurant
- 11:30am - Tour and tastings at the brewery
- 1:30pm - Leave Quesnel
- 3:00pm - Arrive Prince George, Starbucks Pine Centre Mall
