Microphone & Acoustic Fundamentals for
Aeroacoustic Applications

PCB Piezotronics invites you to attend an Aeroacoustic training seminar at the National Center for Aviation Training in Wichita, KS from  8:00 am to 5:00 pm on February 12th. The keynote speaker is Andrew Barnard, Ph.D., an Assistant Professor  from Michigan Technological University and a leading authority on sound and vibration measurements.  Dr. Barnard is also INCE Board Certified and a certified LabVIEW developer.

Mr. Michael Grimaldi is also presenting. He is the Business Development Manager for the Aerospace & Defense Division at PCB Piezotronics Inc. With over 15 years of experience, he helps scientists, engineers and students make successful measurements in force, vibration, pressure and acoustic applications

At this training, participants will learn:
  • Microphone/acoustic fundamentals - key terminology, acoustic waves and sound fields, the source-path-receiver model, microphone types, selecting the right microphone for your application, etc.

  • Sound metrics, measurement, and frequency determination - broadband metrics used to describe sound, averaging concepts, octave and third octave bands, and narrow band frequency analysis.
  • Microphones as part of an integrated system - microphone and DAQ: how they interact, understanding the output results, system level calibration, data processing, etc.

  • Testing in wind tunnels or the outdoors - isolating the acoustic field from air flow pressure to make accurate acoustic measurements.
  • Piezo pressure sensors for wind tunnels and aeroacoustic applications

  • Product demonstrations - coherent/incoherent signals, sound directivity, identifying noise floor, and anti-aliasing.

The cost of $99 includes lunch and training materials.
