Psychotherapy Change Process

This FREE program will start immediately and include dinner. 

Must bring your registration ticket for admission. 

Objectives:

  • Recall three ways to work through patient’s resistance and ambivalence about treatment. 
  • Name three effective interventions to use to motivate patients to begin the process of change. 
  • Summarize four specific treatment goals that are measurable and observable. 
  • Define two clinical interventions to keep patients’ focused on their goals and desire for change.  

Seminar Highlights:
This seminar will focus on professional use of self, measurable treatment goals, and effective social work interventions. Clinicians will learn about specific strategies and techniques based on solution focused, cognitive behavioral, and family therapy models. Advantages of different types of treatment, including individual and group modalities, will be discussed. Ways to motivate patients to change and become active will be highlighted. Case examples also will be presented. 

Speaker: Phil Feldman, PhD, LCSW
Dr. Feldman is the Clinical Director at Community Psychiatric Institute. He is also an Adjunct Professor at Rutgers University, Graduate School of Social Work. Dr. Feldman has presented more than 200 clinical seminars at hospitals and agencies on personality disorders, emotional problems, and psychotherapy techniques. In addition to his work as a psychotherapist for 25 years, he is the author of three treatment manuals, Shame Affect, Dual Diagnosis Manual, and The Psychotherapy Manual.
