New Evidence-Based Approach for Traumatized Children & Families: Trauma-Sensitive Yoga & Mindfulness 

Join us for a morning gathering to learn how yoga and mindfulness practices can promote resilience and mitigate the consequences of childhood trauma. This training is designed for educators, social workers, mental health clinicians, and other professions who work directly with traumatized children, teens, and families.

Training Objectives Include:

  • Define childhood trauma and understand its impact on brain development
  • Learn why yoga and mindfulness are effectives tools for promoting resilience
  • Identify essential components of trauma-sensitive yoga and mindfulness interventions
  • Practice simple yoga and mindfulness exercises that are accessible, adaptable, appropriate, and effective for building resilience among traumatized people. 

When? March 21st from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.

About the Presenter:

Jessica Gershwin, LCSW, MEd works as a bilingual child and family therapist at the Denver Children’s Advocacy Center.  Jessica has spent more than a decade working with children, teens, and families in urban settings and is passionate about helping people heal from childhood trauma. Jessica holds master's degrees in education and social work.  She is also a registered yoga teacher for children and adults, and she regularly incorporates mindfulness, breathing exercises, and movement in her therapeutic work with children and families.  Jessica is trained in Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TC-TSY), an evidenced-based treatment model that utilizes yoga and mindfulness to help children, youth and adults heal from complex trauma.
