Are you wondering how to improve the quality, shelf life, and safety of the produce you sell? Join us in touring three Wichita area produce farms to learn about their production, harvest, and marketing practices. The tour will be from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, August 7, 2017. Participants will meet in a central location and board a bus for the tour. Dinner will be provided. Details will be provided upon registration.
The bus tour will visit a local orchard, a farm specializing in restaurant sales, and a farm specializing in mobile farmers’ market sales. It will include basic information on improving produce quality through good post-harvest handling including harvesting, washing and storage, and packaging. We will also outline the principles of food safety practices and provide information on new food safety regulations.
Cost of registration is $15 by Thursday, August 3, 2017.
