Virtual Story Circle of Engagement - Summer 2020 Cohort (Clerical and Paras)

Virtual Story Circle of Engagement: Being Distant During a Need for Closeness

This two-part Story Circle is opened to OPS Clerical/Office Staff and Paraprofessionals who would like to connect with colleagues across the district during this COVID-19 crisis.

Day One – Listening: Bring a “gift” that strengthens you, calms your own fears, or offers your students, parents/families, and staff comfort. The gift you share can be tangible or intangible for it is your story of perseverance during this very sensitive time.

Day Two – Reflections: You listened intensely to each other’s distance and social emotional stories on Day One. Now you get to respond to the impact and inspiration gained as you move forward in a world where hugs and high-fives are replaced by virtual presence, communication, and distance learning.

Prerequisite: Must be Clerical or Office staff or a Paraprofessional to participate.

Summer 2020 Schedule

  • Monday, July 13: 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.
  • Monday, July 20: 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.

Only OPS employees who meet the prerequisite are eligible to attend this offering. OPS educators who attend all sessions will receive a $100 stipend - participants MUST attend over half of all cohort sessions in order to be eligible to receive any stipend amount. Because this cohort is only two sessions long, participants must attend both in order to receive any stipend amount.

If you are registering for multiple Minnesota Humanities Center offerings, please take a moment to verify that none of your course dates overlap. We will not be scheduling make up sessions or homework for individuals who are double scheduled. You are responsible for making sure the offerings you sign up for work with your schedule before you register.

Registering for this course does not guarantee you a spot. We will notify participants of their registration status after registration closes. The Minnesota Humanities Center prioritizes registrations from educators serving our partner schools and educators who have not yet participated in this course, then on a first-come, first-served basis.

Please check your junk, clutter, or spam folders so you don't miss our emails about this offering!

The Minnesota Humanities Center is committed to removing barriers to participation in all of its programs. If you are experiencing a barrier that you think we can assist you with, please let us know.
