About the Speakers: Ms. Sawyer is the President, Co-Owner, and Clinical Director at OTA The Koomar Center, and is responsible for overseeing all therapeutic activities. She has extensive clinical experience working with children and families. Sarah began her career in the United Kingdom working with children, adolescents and adults with Sensory Processing Dysfunction (SPD) across home, school and clinic-based settings. In 2003 Sarah was awarded the Elizabeth Casson Trust Scholarship from Oxford Brookes University, Oxford, UK, to attend Tufts University to complete her post-professional masters. Her thesis focused on therapists' clinical reasoning. Sarah has broad experience evaluating and treating individuals with SPD and has specialized training in Listening Therapies, Trauma and Visual Vestibular difficulties. She has a particular interest in working with individuals on the Autism Spectrum and has specialized training in DIRŪ Floortime Approach. As well as overseeing the day-to-day running of the clinic, Sarah regularly trains and presents to educational facilities and other professionals broadening understanding of Sensory Processing Dysfunction and Sensory Integration Therapy.

Marsha Raredon is a Licensed and Certified Occupational Therapist and a senior therapist at OTA. She also works at Manville School, a school for children with complex emotional and psychological needs. In the past she has worked in collaboration with a psychiatric team at Westwood Lodge Hospital. She has contributed to the book, Current Perspectives and Applications in Neurobiology: Working with Young Persons who are Victims and Perpetrators of Sexual Abuse, discussing sensory integration and trauma. She specializes in sensory integration and manual therapies and has presented lectures to parents, teachers and health professionals. For many years Marsha was a consultant at Tufts-Eliot Pearson Children's School, where a rich multi-culture curriculum is complemented by an integrated special needs program. The interplay between emotional health and sensory processing has long been the focus of her therapy as well as the nature of how our physical and psychological health work together in the context of our environment and culture.

The Adult/Adolescent Sensory History is available now!

The culmination of years of research and work, the Adult/Adolescent Sensory History, is designed as a self-report assessment of sensory and motor behaviors commonly observed in individuals with difficulties processing and integrating sensory information. The purpose of this assessment is to help identify adults and adolescents ages 13 to 95 who experience problems in sensory processing and integration as well as assist therapists in clinical reasoning when creating interventions for these individuals. Based on the conceptual model of sensory processing and sensory integration proposed by A. Jean Ayres, this measure is designed to identify difficulties in five key areas of functioning: Sensory Discrimination, Sensory Modulation, Postural-Ocular Skills, Praxis, and Social-Emotional Functioning.
