The Path Forward for the
Black LGBTQ/SGL Community 

The National Black Justice Coalition (NBJC) is honored to host the 7th Annual OUT on the Hill Black LGBT Leadership Summit (OOTH2015) in Washington, D.C. on September 14-17, 2016. OOTH2016 is a unique and important convening that brings together the nation's leading Black LGBT activists, thought leaders, elected officials, faith leaders, elders and young adults to participate in an inspiring week of education, organizing and action planning.

In the age of the Obama presidency, our community has witnessed great progress: the passage of federal hate crimes legislation; the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell and the implementation of open transgender military service; the Supreme Court upholds marriage equality as the law of the land; and the passage of the Affordable Care Act. Unfortunately, we have also experienced many setbacks: the continued negative impact of the criminal justice system on our communities; the rise of overt racism and nationalist militias; and the continued rise of HIV/AIDS in our community. With the conference theme, The Post-Obama Era: What’s Next?, this year’s OOTH2016 efforts will be deeply rooted in exploring the triumphs and challenges that we have witnessed during the administration of the first Black President, and work to plot the path forward in a post-Obama era.

OOTH2016 will provide networking opportunities and other programmatic efforts to raise awareness and take action on issues impacting the Black LGBT community. OOTH2016 activities will include the opportunity to participate in the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s Annual Legislative Conference (CBCF-ALC). Join thousands of African American policy makers, key influencers, organizers and concerned citizens in our nation’s capital to advocate for an African American agenda inclusive of Black LGBT people.
