"Imagine a school where every one feels safe, loved and celebrated. Imagine enemies finding common ground and making peace; friends healing past hurts and making amends; people igniting their passion for service and leadership; adults and youth working together to create a school where every one is included and thrives. This is Challenge Day." - Challenge Day
Altitude, funded by Newton Medical Center, is an 8th grade empowerment program adopted by seven of our Sussex County schools. By participating in program elements spanning the entire school year, students have the opportunity to Take the Climb toward their highest and best selves. As a result, students learn to recognize the hidden similarities between them, to believe in their own strength and goodness, and to feel excited about using their time and talent in service to others.
Adult Participants are crucial for the success of the day. No prior training is necessary, just a desire to support our kids as they Take The Climb toward their best selves. Before the day starts the Altitude and Challenge Day leaders will meet with all adult participants to let you know what is needed from you and to answer any questions you may have. The staff will closely monitor the program and our leaders will be giving instructions throughout the day. In order to volunteer for this exciting opportunity, you must be able to remain on site and to participate fully for the entire day.
We’re working hard to empower our youth as they take the climb and would really love your support! Please consider joining us as an Adult Participant for one (or more) of the Challenge Days. While we do encourage parent volunteers to participate in Challenge Day, we ask that you register for a Challenge Day at a school other than your child's school. Spots are available on a first come first served basis so please register early!
The program will run from approximately 7:00am to 3:00pm each day.
Thank you and we hope you will join us!
Sincerely,
Erin Askin and the Altitude Team
