Speaker Bill Woolsey, Mayor of James Island and Economics Professor at The Citadel

Please join us as Mayor Woolsey discusses current events for the Town of James Island

Bill Woolsey was elected Mayor of James Island in 2010. After the South Carolina Supreme Court ruled the Town improperly formed in 2011, he chaired "Free James Island" to put together the fourth and final incorporation of the Town. He was again elected Mayor in 2012, and then reelected in 2014. Mr. Woolsey served as a member of town council from 2002-2004. He is also an economics professor at The Citadel.

Prior to coming to Charleston, Mr. Woolsey was an Assistant Professor of Economics for Talladega College. Mr. Woolsey received his PhD in Economics from George Mason University and a Master of Arts in Economics from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.

Mr. Woolsey has published and continues to write for various business journals. He is a member of several honor fraternities including Phi Beta Kappa, Omicron Delta Epsilon, Phi Kappa Phi, Phi Sigma Tau.

Mr. Woolsey was born in Gainesville, FL and is married with two sons.
