ICC IBC Allowable Heights & Areas

Based on the provisions of International Building Code (IBC) Chapter 5, this seminar focuses on how a buildings occupancy classification and type of construction relate to the maximum building size permitted by the IBC. The approach to determining a  buildings maximum allowable height and area is explained, including use of Table 503 and all related permitted increases due to sprinkler protection and frontage open space. Detailed provisions related to mezzanines and unlimited area buildings are also addressed. Specific topics include:

  • ·        Concept of limiting a buildings height and area due to occupancy and construction type.
  • ·        General limitations based on Table 503.
  • ·        Allowable height increases due to sprinkler protection.
  • ·        Height limits of roof structures.
  • ·        Mezzanine definition, benefits, area limitations and permissible openness.
  • ·        Equipment platforms.
  • ·        Allowable area increases due to sprinkler protection.
  • ·        Allowable area increases due to open frontage.
  • ·        Allowable area increases for multi-story buildings.
  • ·        Concept of unlimited area building provisions.
  • ·        Unlimited area building allowances.

ICC Commercial Kitchen Hoods

This seminar will address the applicable requirements in the 2012 International Mechanical Code (IMC); International Fire Code (IFC); 2012 International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC); 2012 International Building Code (IBC); and 2012 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) as applicable to commercial kitchen hoods.  It emphasizes commercial hood and duct construction, when commercial hoods are require, what type of hood is require for different cooking appliances, and air movement requirements for commercial cooking hoods.

 

ICC IBC Mixed Occupancies

Based on the provisions of the International Building Code (IBC) Section 508, this seminar addresses those special requirements applicable to buildings containing two or more occupancy classifications. The three mixed-occupancy options are presented along with examples and exercises that illustrate the proper application of the provisions.

  • Nonseparated occupancies
