2021 Merry Merchants Campaign

Welcome to the Merry Merchants Campaign!

We are starting Early and we are Adding Value! The Campaign provides great opportunities to promote your Business or Organization! During the Campaign Dates Participants (Community Members, Munchers, & Judges) come around to taste/see/purchase all that you have to offer, or, while they are shopping online in the comfort of their own home!

Campaign Dates: November 22nd, 2021 - January 3rd, 2022

The Campaign has 3 Components:

Merry Merchant Munch (Open Houses) - Dec. 3rd & 4th
Merry Merchant Facebook Marketplace Group
Merry Merchant Mobile Passport

And as an Added Present to our Merchants...Upon completion of your Merry Merchant Campaign Registration we will be sending you an exclusive Digital Holiday Business Box with a bunch of helpful information for the holidays. Whether the holiday season is your best time of year, or worst, this Business Box will have something for you!

Registration Fees:

Chamber Members - $100.00

Non-Members - $125.00

Campaign Details

MUNCH OVERVIEW:

Here's How the Merry Merchant Munch Works for your Business:

Businesses are challenged to create holiday decor and treats for visitors in an Open House type setting. Participants then visit the businesses with their Munch Punch Cards (Included in the 2021 MMM Guides that will be distributed to all mailing addresses in the Chugiak and Eagle River zip codes or pickup at participating Munch Participants) and get at least 15 validations to be entered to win Prizes! The Chamber of Commerce also assigns teams of judges to travel from business to business and select favorites in a variety of categories!

The 5 Categories for this Year are as follows: Best Holiday Tree, Merriest Merchant, Spirit of the Season, Tastiest Treats, & Hometown Holiday

MUNCH Open House Hours:

Friday Dec. 3rd: 12:00 PM -5:00 PM

Saturday Dec. 4th: 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM

[Merchant may participate Friday or Saturday only , or both days]

Deadline for inclusion into the Munch Map is November 2nd. Please note this date may be different from the Anchorage Daily News Ad Deadline for the Guide.

FACEBOOK MARKETPLACE GROUP OVERVIEW:

Every year, the Chamber hosts a weekend of fun community events including the lighting of the tree in town square, visits with Mrs. Clause, Santa & his reindeer, listening to school choirs and (of course) the Merry Merchant Munch. In 2020 with the impacts of the pandemic the Facebook Marketplace Group was created to provide an online option for a Cataglog with 1-stop online shopping, Facebook Live Events when In-Person Activities were Cancelled and other Community Announcments. Our Merry Merchants also get to post daily during the Campaign!

To give you a perspective on the popularity of the Facebook group: It was launched in 2020. Between October 26 and Dec 19 (less than 2 months) the group added 613 NEW MEMBERS! The Online Catalog was visited by 294 others! You want to be a part of this Group!

MOBILE PASSPORT OVERVIEW:

Our Newest Addition to the Merry Merchants Campaign! we are excited to announce a Mobile Passport by our Partner's at Bandwango that allows visitors and locals to check-in on their mobile device at local businesses throughout the Campaign and win prizes!

The benefit to you as a Merchant is that more people come to your brick and mortar businesses. During the Munch, participants will be entered to win double the prizes for participating in both the passport check-in and the munch punch cards. Who wouldn't love prizes from our local businesses? Trust us when we say the public will be coming in droves for this!

*Please note: The Mobile Passport had a separate registration as this component of the Campaign has a long onboarding process. If you already signed-up for the passport you may still click in the registration that you are interested.

The registration deadline for inclusion into the Mobile Passport is October 15. If the deadline has passed to be included in the Passport, don't fret. It’s the first year we launched the Mobile Passport and it may take a season for it to gain traction... You will still find some incredible benefits with the Munch, Marketplace and Digital Boxes this year!
