I have to be a technology teacher? HELP!!!

Helping patrons with technology questions and mobile electronic devices has become commonplace in today's library.  Join fellow colleagues to see how the metro libraries are dealing with this gamut of technology demands from patrons and staff.  Topics covered will include: deciding what topics to teach, techniques and methods of instruction, and keeping current on technology.

This is not a hands on workshop.  However, wifi is available at this location if you would like to bring a laptop or tablet.

Presenters:

Ann Dreiling has over twenty years of computer experience.  In that time she has done everything from selling computers to fixing them.  For the last thirteen years she has worked for the Kansas City Public Library.  Currently she is the acting supervisor of Customer Services and teaches the public technology classes for the Central Branch of that system. She also serves on MALA's Professional Development Committee and Webcast Committee.

Heather Burgess is an Information Specialist and member of the Technology Committee at Johnson County Library. She previously worked as the Adult Services Librarian at Chatham Area Public Library, where she taught a wide variety of technology skills to both patrons and staff members.

Sheryl Nance-Durst is a reference librarian at the Kansas City, Kansas Public Library.  She has been teaching an average of 3-5 computer classes every month for over a decade and especially loves teaching beginners.  Sheryl believes that technology training should be fun, practical and non-threatening.
