PROGRAM OBJECTIVES:

Today hundreds of thousands of people are grieving alone in their homes, unable to lean on the people and programs they would normally rely on after a death. Anger, guilt and sadness are compounded by the pain of not being with loved ones at the end. Worse still is that COVID-19 forces people to grieve alone, without the funerals, support groups, and visits from neighbors they would normally rely on.

Objectives for our time together on May 14th include:
  • Understand the unique emotions and realities faced by people grieving during the pandemic.
  • Learn about new approaches, and practical alternatives, for funerals, grief support, and sympathy gifts.
  • What's next? How can we prepare to deliver grief support at scale, to medical professionals, staff, families and society at large.

Emma Payne is the Founder and CEO of Grief Coach, an innovative service that delivers personalized grief support via text message. Grief Coach combines Emma's passion for mobile technology and engagement, with her deep commitment to providing affordable, accessible, and personal grief support. An MIT graduate and best-selling author who started building online communities before Netscape was born, Emma knows that, while grief is hard, it’s a little easier when we have people by our side.
