    Joel Yudken, Ph.D., is principal and founder, High Road Strategies LLC, Arlington, VA, an economic policy research, analysis and design consultancy since 2006, with a focus on sustainable manufacturing, energy and workforce issues.

    JOHN A. "SKIP" LAITNER will discuss his experience with the circular economy, particularly his work in the Nord-Pas de Calais region in France which has committed itself to a number of strategic objectives which include circular economic principles such as energy efficient networks, recycling and sustainable innovation.
    Skip is an economist, author and lecturer.  He serves as a Senior Fellow (formerly Director of Economic and Social Analysis) for the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) and now leads a team of consultants, the Economic and Human Dimensions Research Associates based in Tucson, Arizona.  
    Author of more than 280 reports, journal articles, and book chapters, Laitner has more than 40 years of involvement in the environmental, energy and economic policy arenas.

     


     KEN ALSTON is CEO of MBDC, the groundbreaking design chemistry firm William McDonough co-founded with German chemist Dr. Michael Braungart. Since joining the firm in 2000, Ken and MBDC have helped leading companies like Berkshire Hathaway’s Shaw Industries (for which the U.S. EPA awarded Shaw the Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Award), Method, Herman Miller, Steelcase, Centria, Owens Corning, Dow Chemical Company, Procter & Gamble, Alcoa, FedEx and the U.S. Postal Service profitably implement the Cradle to Cradle framework for continuous improvement.   In addition, in many instances, these companies proceeded to implement the Cradle to Cradle CertifiedCM Program, which was conceived and developed by MBDC.  Ken has a Bachelor of Technology degree in Applied Chemistry from Brunel University, (West London, UK) and a Masters in Business Administration from Brunel/Henley Management College (Oxford, UK).

     DEVASHREE SAHA, Ph.D. is an associate fellow at the Brookings Institution Metropolitan Policy Program. She has nearly 10 years of policy research and analysis experience, specializing in sources of state and regional economic growth and prosperity with a focus on the intersection of clean energy and economic development policy. She has published several highly impactful publications, including on clean energy financing, that have informed state and metropolitan policy making in the United States. Dr. Saha and her research have been cited in numerous media outlets including Newsweek, USA Today, Marketplace, and TIME Magazine.
