The Community Foundation of Western Nevada’s Preventing Financial Scams Initiative protects our community. We invite you to our third Coffee and Conversation on Preventing Financial Scams.
Scammers exploit situations when people are most vulnerable. The COVID-19 brought in a great amount of uncertainty, which scammers saw as an opportunity to exploit individuals. During this time, there were prevalent scams relating to stimulus checks, economic impact payments, and many more. The IRS, Federal Trade Commission, and the Nevada Attorney General constantly warned us of COVID-19 related scams.
With businesses reopening, the community slowly recovering and figuring out the new norm, this time may be an opportunity for scammers to find new and creative ways to exploit our community.
Learn about the latest scams targeting our community at our third virtual Coffee and Conversation. The Community Foundation will share tips and resources on how you can protect yourself, your family and friends, and your neighbors. Our upcoming third Coffee and Conversation virtual gathering will also feature presentations from three area experts:
Following the presentations, there will be an opportunity for you to ask questions and share your story. Perhaps you spotted a red flag and stopped a scammer. Share your story to help others.
Despite the prevalence of scams, we know good things happen when our community comes together. We hope you will join us.
Thank you!
