 InventorsCircle May 2018 Seminar!

First Presentation

Terry Lampropoulos,                                 MBA, HBSc, CRM, ABCP

                  Inventing with Risk...

An inventor will take several risks when creating something for the very first time.  Their creativity and their ability to think 'outside a box' make us enjoy items like cell phones and PVRs.

With a new understanding of the role that risk plays in our society, inventors can optimize the risk they take by using methods such as 'Failure Modes' and 'Effects Analysis'. This technique will give inventors the ability to brainstorm and predict failures before they happen, by incorporating appropriate controls in the design process of their intellectual property.

Background: With a sound education base that includes an Honors Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto, his MBA studies at Dalhousie University, and certifications in Risk Management, Business Analysis, and Project Management, Terry is able to use his experience across multiple fields. In addition to this, he also holds the Canadian Risk Management (CRM) and Associate Business Continuity Professional (ABCP) designations.

Terry has taught both the Risk Control and Risk Finance courses at Seneca College. Through his experience in the Canadian financial industry he has worked in consulting, fraud, insurance, business continuity management, and various risk management roles in capital markets, credit cards, model risk, technology risk, and operational risk.

Second Presentation

Kira Leskew                Find out if 'Ascendeur' is for you!

We talked to a lot of entrepreneurs. A lot. We asked them what holds them back, what do they wish they had done differently when they were just getting started, what keeps them up at night?

And then we listened....  What we heard probably sounds familiar if you’re an entrepreneur:

  • You want a way to connect with other entrepreneurs who are going to elevate your journey.
  • You’d love to have a personal advisory board to help you navigate the tough situations and make the difficult decisions that are all part of being an entrepreneur.
  • You want vetted resources from a source you trust so you don’t have to spend your precious time researching the best accountant, lawyer, books, or processes for your business.
  • You want to spend time around people who get you.
  • You want to be part of something bigger.

So we founded Ascendeur. Based on the idea that entrepreneurs’ most precious resource is their time, Ascendeur delivers professionally developed tools and connections for your success. You won’t ever be “voluntold” to plan the Christmas party; just swing by and have a great time!
