  • Featuring:
    John Batt
    trained as an accountant in the United Kingdom, CPA equivalency, and spent his early years as an auditor. He subsequently worked for a small investment holding company which was followed by 13 years working at a UK subsidiary of the Aluminum Company of Canada where he became the Commercial Director responsible for accounting, administration and product distribution. He joined Green Giant Europe as Director of Finance and Administration, which included product distribution. John transferred to the United States in 1979 as an accounting manager for the Consumer Export division of The Pillsbury Company. Over the next nine years, he held positions of increasing responsibility within the International division culminating in his appointment as Director of Finance – International/Ice Cream Division.

    John’s international travels were extensive and included work in Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean, Asia and Australia. His accomplishments included negotiating loans from the International Finance Corporation for a Jamaica Flour Mills expansion, negotiating and closing joint ventures in Hong Kong and Taiwan and a “White Knight” position in an Australian company under takeover pressure. John moved to Pillsbury Corporate Development as Director of Acquisitions/Acquisitions Analysis and was involved in developing strategy, analyzing opportunity and executing mergers, acquisitions and divestitures. Brands included Bumble Bee Seafoods, Godfather’s Pizza, Van de Kamp, Burger King, Steak and Ale, Green Giant and others. John led the due diligence team in Pillsbury’s acquisition of Bumble Bee Seafoods and eventually transferred to Bumble Bee where he became CFO and Treasurer and eventually President and CEO.
