You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet! – White Sulphur Springs: A Resurrection Story

It was national
news, the West Virginia flood of June 23, 2016. In White Sulphur Springs, more than eight inches of rain fell in 24 hours, and Howard Creek—which runs through the center of town—rose fast and ran hard. Houses were torn off their foundations, cars washed away, street pavement folded like tissue paper in huge stacks. Part of Main Street was under water; some residents were without power for a week. That day, eight White Sulphur Springs residents died.

How does a mountain town of 2,300 get back on its feet in the wake of such devastation?

A story of community, resilience and rebirth...

The Workforce Metrics Implementation Retreat

This unique retreat will bring equal employment opportunity (EEO), affirmative action (AA), and diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging and access (DEIBA+) professionals, subject matter experts (SMEs), and corporate voices (CVs) together for candid conversations related to the paths traveled “in pursuit of equal employment opportunity in the workforce.” At the same time, we will probe and question the seemingly endless resistance and rollback on several fronts related to AA and DEIAB+ initiatives in general.

We will dissect successes associated with AA and DEIBA+, the intersectionality of the terms used, as well as the baggage associated with both initiatives. Through conversations led by “Corporate Voices,” implementation strategies that go beyond the metrics to ensure a culture built on EEO in the workplace will be contemplated, shared, and assessed for future relevance.
