LSI Empower Luncheon

If you were forced to leave your home and flee to another country today, how well would you adapt? Would you know where and how to purchase food? Would you know how to ask for directions? Would you know how to find a job?

One thing is certain: learning the language would make your transition much easier.

Join LSI for a celebration of Des Moines' refugee community and the power of language at this year's Empower Luncheon! This year’s event will highlight the importance of English language learning in helping former refugees adapt to life in Iowa.

Your participation will make an impact on the Des Moines refugee community.

Your attendance will support LSI’s Refugee Commmunity Services, which provides extended support and training for former refugees in the Des Moines metro. Our services include English classes, citizenship classes elder services, work readiness training, child care and parent education and Global Greens, an urban agricultural program.

Please join us for this special day of empowerment and celebration!

Reservations: $50 per person ($35 of each event registration is tax-deductible as allowed by law.) Registration will close on Thursday, September 3, 2015.

Thanks to a generous supporter of LSI's Refugee Community Services, all donations made on this platform will be matched dollar for dollar up to $2,500.
