The Spring Technical Conference Planning Committee is pleased to introduce Jason Mengel, the Director of the 2020 Ryder Cup. He will be delivering the morning's Keynote Presentation that will provide an overview of what Wisconsin can expect from hosting one of the preeminent international sporting events in the world today: The Ryder Cup, which is being held at nearby Whistling Straits this September.
For the afternoon’s Keynote Presentation, the Spring Technical Conference Planning Committee is honored to welcome back Wisconsin Department of Transportation Secretary-designee Craig Thompson. His presentation will review the progress made on transportation initiatives in the past year, including the impact of the state budget and projects that have been either enumerated or resumed. Secretary-designee Thompson will outline Wisconsin’s current transportation challenges, and will discuss WisDOT’s priorities moving forward.
A morning Ethics Presentation, “Aspirational and Preventive Approaches to Ethics in Business” will be presented by Tim Weyenberg. Tim is the former CEO and Board Chairman of Foth Companies, and serves on the UW Green Bay’s Council of Trustees. Tim’s presentation will explore how the incorporation of ethics into professional practice has evolved from compliance and prevention to a deeper sense of responsibility for our larger world.
The lunch session will feature Brad Hughes, of Flad Structural Engineers and in cooperation with Engineers Without Borders USA - UW Madison Chapter and Madison Area Professional Chapter. Brad will provide an interesting comparison of technology, construction practices, and resources between two structural design efforts running concurrently for a 130 foot long pedestrian bridge in the Milwaukee area, and a 125 foot long pedestrian bridge in Guatemala. Carl Sutter and Martin Hanson will provide an update on the Wisconsin Section Infrastructure Report Card release, and Kailey Lietzke of the Wisconsin ASCE Architectural Engineering Institute (AEI) Committee will provide information on its formation and offer the membership details of joining the group.
Breakout session options will offer a range of discipline options, including Environmental & Water Resources, Construction, Structures, Transportation, Geotechnical, and Leadership & Management.
Up to six PDH's will be available from this program.
