Strategic Decision Making in the Guided Reading Lesson (for trained staff only) 6-30-16

Target Audience:  Classroom teachers K-5, special education teachers, instructional coaches, and principals which have been trained and are currently implementing Guided Reading Practices from Jan Richardson

Description: This is a session for teachers that have been previously trained in Guided Reading and have experience using the Jan Richardson planning template and methodology.  Participants will work with student data to identify strengths and weaknesses and plan guided reading lessons to accelerate student learning. This session will also dive deeply into the instructional practices presented in Jan Richardson’s “The Next Steps in Guided Reading”.  Focus will be oral language, word study, visual scanning, teacher prompting, and teaching for specific reading behaviors for the emergent to the fluent reader.

Please dress in layers as it can be difficult to adjust the temperature.

Attendance Policy:

If you register to attend a session, but find you are unable to attend, please cancel your registration as early as possible. Space is limited and by canceling you will allow others to benefit from these highly qualified professional development opportunities. A fee could be assessed for no shows.

Districts will be notified of those who registered and did not attend or did not cancel prior to be session.
