Strategies for Teaching Fluent Readers using Guided Reading 9/30/16

Speaker: Lisa King

Target Audience: Classroom Teachers, Instructional Coaches, Administrators

Description: This session is for teachers trained in “Next Steps in Guided Reading” by Jan Richardson.  Please bring the text to use as a resource during the training.

Because fluent readers have few decoding problems, the focus of the guided reading lesson shifts to comprehension of increasing complex text and vocabulary/ word study.  This session will focus on the unique needs of fluent readers in text levels M+.  Participants should be familiar with the Jan Richardson lesson framework for this level of reader. This session will look at advanced comprehension and vocabulary strategies and planning a fluent guided reading lesson.
