Speaker: Mark Helton
Target Audience: K-5 Mathematics teachers (general and special education), math interventionists, instructional coaches, low incidence teachers at all grade levels, building and district-level administrators
Description:
The Conceptual Building Blocks is designed to build a teacher’s capacity to work with students in various settings. The approach is rooted in a concrete--semi-concrete--abstract (CSA) methodology of teaching and develops conceptual understanding along the way to procedural understanding. This two-day module focuses on counting and cardinality, progression of thought for addition/subtraction, addressing misconceptions, and establishing a growth mindset.
Attendance at BOTH days is REQUIRED.
There will be follow-up provided by the CKEC Math Consultant (either in-school or via SKYPE). This will be further discussed on the training days.
