7-11-19 Why Are these Kids so Angry?- No Fee for Member Districts, $35 Fee for Non Member Districts

High Leverage Practices: 

1. Collaborate with professionals to increase student success.
4. Use multiple sources of information to develop a comprehensive understanding of students strengths and needs.
7. Establish a consistent, organized, and respectful learning environment.
8. Provide positive and constructive feedback to guide students learning behavior.
9. Teach social behaviors.
10. Conduct functional behavioral assessments to develop individual student behavior support plans.
16. Use explicit instruction.
18. Use strategies to promote active engagement.
21. Teach students to maintain and generalize new learning across time and settings.

Description: This session will present practical behavior and academic strategies used to effectively work with students who angry and explosive.  Working with students who have anger issues can be an extremely frustrating task; however, when one has an understanding of the violent cycle and how to de-escalate students, it is much easier to identify the function of inappropriate behavior and to design appropriate interventions to ensure student success in the classroom.  We will look at triggers and when to intervene and when to support a student through a difficult time and how to debrief with the student after an episode.

At CKSEC, we love kids and families! Unfortunately, due to liability issues and professional decorum, children and other family members or friends are not permitted to attend our trainings.

Please get permission from CKEC prior to video or audio recording a portion or all of a CKEC session. 

Please dress in layers as it can be difficult to adjust the temperature.

Attendance Policy:

If you register to attend a session, but find you are unable to attend, please cancel your registration as early as possible. Space is limited and by canceling you will allow others to benefit from these highly qualified professional development opportunities. A fee could be assessed for no shows.

Districts will be notified of those who registered and did not attend or did not cancel prior to be session.
