USPA Coach Instructional Rating Certification Course
The Jump Institute at Start Skydiving will host a USPA Coach Instructional Rating Certification Course conducted by John Hart from July 9th through July 12th.
Candidates must meet the following requirements before attending the USPA Coach Rating Course:
- Reached the age of at least 18 years old or older
- Earned at least a USPA B license or higher
- Logged at least 100 or more jumps with valid signatures (more is definitely recommended, especially belly-flying jumps)
- Completely read through the Coach Rating section of the IRM (dated within the past two years)
- Completely read through Sections 2-1, portions of Section 4 (the Solo General Section of Category A and all sections of Categories F, G, & H except the outlined canopy control drills), and 9-1 of the SIM
- Complete the online training module for the coach course.
- Correctly answered at least 80% of the questions on the USPA Coach Rating Final Examination using the Coach Rating Exam Answer Sheet in the IRM
- Assisted in one complete solo first-jump course directly supervised by a USPA Instructor no more than twelve months prior to the Coach Rating Course start date (Start Skydiving conducts these nearly every Friday starting at 8 AM. Contact John Hart to arrange this if needed.)
All candidates must also bring all the following items with them to the USPA Coach Rating Course:
- Your logbook(s) with valid signatures for at least 100 jumps and proof that you are current within your license requirements
- Your USPA license card (must be at least a B license and must not expire until after the course)
- Your in-date personal skydiving equipment (an audible and an AAD are highly recommended)
- A printed or digital copy (on a laptop or tablet) of the SIM and IRM dated within the past two years
- A printed and completed Coach Rating Exam Answer Sheet (the last page of this PDF)
- A printed and partially completed Coach Rating Proficiency Card
- A form of payment to pay the remaining balance and your jumps (A minimum of six full-price slots are required, with a maximum of eight. Burble funds cannot be used to pay the course fee.)
The course will begin on Friday morning at 8 AM until 5 PM and then continue at 8 AM on Saturday and Sunday mornings until sunset or completion, whichever comes first. Monday will be used as a back up day in the event of poor weather on Saturday or Sunday. We will meet in the main lobby by manifest each day.
A $50 non-refundable deposit is required to hold your slot. The remaining course fee of $175 is due at the start of the course. Each candidate will also need to cover a minimum of six (with a maximum of eight) full-price slots to complete the in-air evaluation portion of the course. Discounted jump packages do not apply toward these jumps.
