Steps to Formulate a Realistic Budget for a Grant Proposal

About the Workshop:

Steps to Formulate a Realistic Budget for a Grant Proposal

Having a clear and realistic budget is essential to any grant application.  Funders scrutinize budgets if they are interested in funding your proposal, so having a specific, realistic, and strong submission which can withstand a critical eye is important.  In this workshop, you will learn how to use a checklist to ensure you are building a realistic budget which allows your organization to do an effective job.

About the Presenter:

Kent Hornberger is a Certified Grant Professional with over 40 years of experience in not for profit management and fund raising.

Kent currently serves on the national board of the Grant Professionals Certification Institute that is dedicated to strengthening the nonprofit sector's ability to pursue and maintain public and private sector funding by promoting competency and ethical practices within the field of grantsmanship.

Kent is immediate Past-President of the St. Louis Regional Chapter of the GPA and served for three years as the Chairman of the GPA's Higher Education Special Interest Group.  He has held leadership positions in other professional organizations including the Association for Fundraising Professionals and the Jesuit Advancement Association.

Kent has taught courses on the principles and practices of grant writing/management, critical analysis skills, communications, ethics and project management at several St. Louis area colleges and universities.  He has been a frequent workshop presenter at both regional and national conferences of the Grant Professionals Association, the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy, the Council for the Advancement of Support for Education, the Jesuit Advancement Association, and the Association of Fundraising Professionals.  He has also served on the board of numerous not-for-profit organizations including Catholic Family Services and EarthDance Farms.
