"On Broadway" Dancer Audition

Director and Producer John Bisceglie seeks 35 non-union, male and female dancers (ages 17+) with strong technique and experience in jazz, ballet & contemporary to appear in “On Broadway", A Salute to the American Musical.

This dynamic musical revue celebrates the evolution of American musical theater, paying tribute to the beloved classics that have come to define the medium as well as today’s game-changers that are bringing new life to the genre. Featuring a selection of showstoppers spanning from the 1940’s to today, “On Broadway” is a tour de force tracing the rise of Broadway in popular culture.

The show will be performed on Saturday, April 23rd at the majestic 892 seat Herbst Theater, located in the San Francisco War Memorial and Performing Arts Center.

This is a fun, non-paid community theater production with a talented cast, high production value and small time commitment (one day a week), allowing those with busy schedules and family commitments the ability to perform in a dynamic production.

Choreographer: Deb Leamy

Trained from the age of three in Providence, RI by a Radio City Music Hall Rockette, Deb Leamy fostered an early love for dance. She was artfully schooled in all forms of dance, especially Ballet, spending her teen years as a member of the Festival ballet of RI. But she found her true love in the discovery of the Jazz and Broadway legends that came before her such as Jack Cole, Luigi, Jerome Robbins, Michael Bennett, Gwen Verdon and Bob Fosse. Deb has honed a love of teaching this amazing art form to students of all ages from the smallest dance studios to renowned Performing Arts institutions. After a long run as an original cast member of the Tony Award winning musical Fosse she had the unique pleasure of sharing this signature style of choreography with students across the nation as she led numerous, popular Fosse Workshops and Master Classes in schools such as: North Carolina Theatre, Scripps Performing Arts Academy in CA, Joy of Motion in Washington, D.C and NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, just to name a few! Deb has performed on Broadway in Never Gonna Dance (Margaret), Sweet Smell of Success and the original cast of Fosse. She has done numerous roles in regional theatre and national/international tours such as Roxie & Mona in Chicago, Rosie in Bye Bye Birdie, Lois in Kiss Me Kate, Maggie in A Chorus Line, in addition to several commercials and TV appearances. She has also served as choreographer for productions of the musicals Pippin and Grease as well as various cabarets, benefits and revues across the country.
