Floodplain and Delta Ecology Institute (704/6810) 

The Floodplain and Delta Ecology Institute brings together the curricula of EEI, Delta Studies and Project WET to create meaningful activities for the classroom and interesting content learning for the teacher of grades 2 - 8. 

Highlights:

  • The full-day bus tour of the Sacramento/San Joaquin Delta will visit the Skinner Fish Screens, the Tracy Pumping plant, the  Delta Cross Channel and areas of floodplain, subsidence and levee restoration
  • Boat trip on the San Joaquin River out of the Port of Stockton
  • A Project WET workshop with certification and the excellent NEW 592 page activity guide. 
  • A unit class set of the new Education and the Environment (EEI) curriculum appropriate for your grade level
  • Hands-on NGSS aligned activities and integrated lessons with literary links
  • Two units of credit available through Teachers College of San Joaquin (additional cost)
  • $200 Stipend upon completion

Dates include:

  • June 6           8:00 - 4:00  EEI, Project WET and Delta Studies curriculums focused on floodplain and delta ecology,  lunch included
  • June 7            8:00 - 4:00  Floodplain and Delta research and how it can be brought into the classroom and coordinated with EEI, Project WET, and Delta Studies,  Boat trip on the deep water channel of the San Joaquin River lunch included
  • June 8            8:00 - 4:00  Full-day tour of the Sacramento/San Joaquin Delta, lunch included
  • November 8   4:30 - 7:30  Project sharing, dinner included

NOTE: Registration is limited to the first 25 PAID participants.  Your registration is not confirmed until we receive your payment.  Registration cost is $35 ($45 after May 28).

Cancellations:  If not paying by credit card, your check or journal payment must be sent at least 10-days prior to the workshop or event.  If the workshop or event is cancelled by SJCOE, participants will be notified and will obtain a full refund. No refunds or credit will be given to participants. Substitutes are welcome
