This year's conference is dedicated to the memory of Art Glowka
The aftermath of Superstorm Sandy has left many wondering how to successfully address the changing climate and impacts on our infrastructure, policy and natural resources.
At this year’s conference, we will feature expert presentations on the big ‘Climate Change’ picture, local impacts to Western LIS, experiences from Sandy and how they impacted our infrastructure and natural resources and resiliency planning going forward.
The majority of the conference will focus on ‘thinking differently and building better’ as it pertains to scientific limitations, legal impacts, funding priorities and future state and federal actions for New York and Connecticut. In addition to providing citizen education and engagement opportunities, the goal of this conference is to identify concrete and attainable action items.
This year's conference is dedicated to the memory of Art Glowka, an avid recreational fisherman and long-time LIS citizen advocate. While there were differences of opinion on Long Island Sound policy, Art's love for and devotion to Long Island Sound was unparalleled. He never missed the opportunity to highlight the Sound's vibrant wildlife. The Long Island Sound community will deeply miss his passion and commitment.
