From 2009 until July 2011, he served as Head of the Foreign Minister's Office in Berlin. His previous postings abroad were Washington (2006-2009), Ankara/Turkey (2002-2006) and Prague (1996-1998). Before he joined the German Diplomatic Service in 1992, he worked as a research associate at the Institute of International Affairs (SWP) in Ebenhausen, Germany. Thomas Bagger, born 1965, holds an MA in Government and Politics from UMCP and a doctorate from Ludwig- Maximilian-University in Munich. He is married to Anita Bagger and they have three children.
