Let's wake up Little Notch!

Spring Stewardship Weekend is an incredible opportunity for Little Notch supporters to gain anunderstanding of how to care for a dynamic camp facility and help make sure Little Notch is safe, functional, and in its best condition for our summer programs.

Our Stewardship Volunteer Team will be hosting the weekend and will have several major and minor projects that must be completed (all skill levels and physical abilities are welcome and needed). We welcome groups coming to do community service. Great for Scout troops and college groups!

Members who would love to help but are unable to visit due to distance or other commitments – we encourage you to please donate to help purchase building and paint supplies.  It is a great way of helping out if you cannot have your boots on the ground.  The Property Committee is also currently trying to raise funds to have a Forestry Plan done and would love contributions toward our $1,000 goal. Click here to be taken to our donation page.

Projects may include: putting up tents, opening the kitchen, opening program areas, clearing roads and trails, setting up our herb garden, and more. All participants will be asked to work for six (6) hours each day, leaving time to enjoy CLN in the afternoon and evening. We hope to have several workshops to offer, such as how to properly clear and maintain trails – using the Mount Hope Furnace Trail as our workshop!  Also, how to put up and care for our platform tents.

(We are hosting a more informal “Pot-Luck” Steward Weekend May 11-12 to get the water on, tools rounded up and the kitchen cleaned.  Email Tess if you are interested in attending. )

Bring your own pop-up tent if you want to tent out, because the platform tents may not be set up yet. Space in the Sleepy Hollow cabins, Brook Haven, Cook’s, and Rockwell Health Center is first come, first served. Email info@friendsofcln.org with any special needs. There will be a sign-up for camping space when you arrive and sign in.

In order to help keep Lakes Pond clean and free of invasive species, we DO NOT allow campers and/or event attendees to bring their own boats, kayaks, canoes, etc. (unless you have a special need that has been reviewed and approved by the camp director prior to your arrival). We do have a variety of watercraft at CLN for your boating pleasure. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Registration is mandatory-- even if you are only coming for a day and bringing your own food.

Pricing is per-meal. Adult rate is $10/meal, and children (ages 6-16) are $5/meal.

The meal schedule is as follows:

Friday dinner: Potluck-- bring something to share! NO CHARGE
Saturday: 3 meals provided (breakfast, lunch, dinner)
Sunday: 3 meals provided (breakfast, lunch, dinner)
Monday: 1 meal provided (breakfast)

Children are welcome! There will be a lot of raking/sweeping, picking up and wood gathering that kids can do. Childcare is not provided so the caretaker of the children must be responsible for their supervision and all applicable waivers must be filled out and signed.

Any child who participates in a full stewardship weekend (two full days' work) will receive a $50 discount voucher for summer camp registration.

Well-behaved dogs are welcome but you must bring a hard copy of an updated rabies vaccination certificate.

We are encouraging everyone to bring your own rakes, shovels, work gloves, and water bottles.

Special Volunteers needed!
