As a result of participating in this class, attendees will explore:

• Learn the basics of HIPAA, the HITECH Act, and the Omnibus Final Rule
• Understand what is reasonable and appropriate for your size of practice
• Identify where your Protected Health Information is located and how to protect it
• Know who your Business Associates are and how to lower the risk they pose to your practice
• Learn the types of Cyber Threats out there
• Identify the difference between a legitimate email and spam
• Understand safety precautions to avoid a costly mistake
• Learning how your technology operates in emergency mode
• Identify the likely disasters and how to continue operating
• Create an actionable plan to manage unexpected technology disasters

As CEO of ACS Technologies LLC and Copper Penny Consulting, LLC, Amy Wood consults with businesses to address their Risk Management and HIPAA Compliance programs, both before and after a Data Breach. She helps minimize the damage after a data breach and implements proactive compliance programs into existing workflows.

Amy has a long history in healthcare, both with patients and now behind the scenes in risk management and technology security. Amy has worked in healthcare for more than 20 years. Her passion for risk management began after her own identity was compromised as a result of X-rays being lost from staff errors. That passion has turned into a commitment to provide an easy to understand approach to complex regulations.

Amy has been named to the 40 Under 40’s “One To Watch” by North Bay Business Journal twice, served multiple terms as a board member of the Dental Integrators Association, and maintains an active role with the FBI’s Infragard Cybersecurity Group.

As a Continuing Education Provider, Amy educates private practice and clinics individually, as well as dental associations, study clubs, disability groups, and other assemblies.

Amy resides in Santa Rosa California with her husband, Scott. They have quite the household as they raise their three daughters and their company ACS Technologies, LLC, together.
