Our Speaker

Frank Rinn - Heidelberg, Germany

RINNTECH

Frank owns RINNTECH,a company that develops equipment for dendrochronology, tree and timber inspection.

Frank invented and developed different methods, machines, and computer programs for various purposes in tree-ring analysis, dendrochronology, tree- and timber inspection, such as resistance drilling, sonic tree tomography & root-plate detection, wood surface density analysis. He was granted several national and international patents, for example on high resolution and high-precision resistance drilling and sonic tomography including the RESISTOGRAPH® and ARBOTOM®

For his inventions and developments, he received several research and innovation awards (1989, 1992, 1997, 1998, 2004, and 2012).

Besides managing RINNTECH (manufacturing, selling, and training), Frank works as a court registered expert, inspecting trees and timber (structures). In addition, he lectures and has published several dozen papers on various topics.

Since 2001, he serves as voluntary Executive Director of ISA Germany and is on the ISA Tree-Risk Panel of Experts and contributed to the corresponding BMP. From 2011 to 2013 he served on the ISA Board of Directors.

Tree Safety Inspection Workshops with Frank Rinn - Austin

  • How can you tell if a tree is safe?
  • Do you want to make better tree assessments, increase your knowledge of tree biomechanics, wood decay and diagnostic tools?
  • Is increasing the precision and accuracy of your inspections and reports important?

Back-to-back workshops with Frank Rinn, inventor of the RESISTOGRAPH and Tomograph and world famous instructor on tree inspection can help you to be a better arborist.

The Texas Chapter ISA is bringing Frank Rinn in from Germany just for these advanced workshops. Classroom topics will include: wood anatomy, tree biomechanics, the effects of pruning and cabling, and possibilities and limitations of technical inspection methods. Outdoor hands-on field time with Frank and his assistant will include: resistance drilling, sonic tomography and sonic root plate assessment.

Workshops are full and closed.

Added Bonus:

Everyone registering the Day 1 Tree Safety Workshop will receive an ArboMech-software licence (WIN, ANDROID, or MacOSX). This software allows to determine how strong a cross-section is weakened by a defect and this can be done on a PC/Notebook, tablet, or smartphone.

Everyone registering for the Day 2 Advanced Tree Safety Workshop will receive an ArWiLo-software licence (WIN, ANDROID, or MacOSX). This software allows to determine the impact of pruning on wind-load reduction and this can be done on a PC/Notebook, tablet, or smartphone.
