Professor Glenn Swift will discuss Central America’s Importance to U.S. stability

Speaker Profile:

Professor Glenn R. Swift (B.B.A. Finance; M.A. University of Central Florida History) will be discussing the current economic and political state of affairs in Nicaragua and why this small Central American country is vital to the national security interests of the United States. 

 
Glenn R. Swift is the University Department Chairperson (UDC) of Social Sciences for the twenty-two campuses of Keiser University and Program Director for General Education and Interdisciplinary Studies at Keiser University’s Flagship Campus in West Palm Beach where he  serves as Professor of History and Supervisor for the Flagship Study Abroad Program and Hawk Talk Speaker Series. He is also an Adjunct Professor at the Keiser University campus in San Marcos, Nicaragua.In addition to his academic pursuits, Swift has enjoyed a successful professional career as an award-winning writer, editor, publisher, investment advisor, concert promoter, and radio talk-show host. As a journalist, Swift was well known for his colorful, insightful and humorous style and was the honored recipient of the Florida Magazine Association‘s 1999 Bronze Award for Writing Excellence/Best In-Depth Reporting. 

Professor Swift is the son of the late Reginald E. Swift, a senior British government official with the UK Ministry of Supply who supervised Lend-Lease purchases for the United Kingdom during Great Britain’s heroic struggle against Nazi Germany. A citizen of the United States, United Kingdom and Canada, Professor Swift possesses a formidable knowledge of history, economics, political science and current events, both foreign and domestic. A member of Phi Alpha Theta, the International History Fraternity, Swift is a frequent lecturer at numerous cultural and educational institutions both in the United States and abroad. This coming summer, Professor Swift will be lecturing on behalf of Keiser at St. Claire’s College, Oxford as part of a course he designed: “From Canterbury Tales to the Theory of Everything: How Britain Shaped the Modern World.”
