Benefits Basics 101: Virtual Training! 

Are you supporting people to find employment or looking for employment? If you or individuals you work with receive disability benefits, this training is for you! Learn basics of SSI/SSDI and work incentives that can apply to benefits. This course is a 4-hour training for (but not limited to...) employment providers, advocates, teachers, payees.

This training will be held in Sioux City. For parking, there is metered parking M-F 8am-6pm. There's also a $5 parking ramp at Pearl and 5th St.

A certificate of completion will be provided.

Learners will have a one-hour break to have lunch on their own during the event.

Get the bare bones on benefits

  • Recognizing which benefits a person receives
  • How work incentives can apply to those benefits
  • How earnings/income can impact a person’s benefits
  • How to refer for support and available resources

  • Employment providers - job coaches, job developers, managers

Presenter will be Tammy Crouch, CWIC from Disability Rights Iowa. 

WIPA Community Work Incentive Coordinator: Tammy Crouch – Tammy received a Bachelors of Science degree in Human Resources Management from Bellevue University. Previous experience includes working as a Disability Navigator, Employment Specialist, and Disability Resource Coordinator with an emphasis on Benefits Planning for Beneficiaries receiving Supplemental Security Income and Social Security Disability Insurance. She received her CWIC certification from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2014. Tammy has also had the opportunity to be involved with many projects related to Ticket to Work, Iowa Medicaid Waivers, Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation, and Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act. She is very active in her community and serves on several committees that work to address barriers to housing, transportation, education, and employment related situations.
